Our Staff
Our staff consists of highly-trained individuals
who have shown a commitment to working closely with our students in the
wide variety of circumstances which will occur in each campus environment.
We maintain a same-gender staff contact; male staff are not allowed to
work closely with female students and female staff are not allowed to
work closely with male students.
Female Family Representatives are the
sole exception to this rule, and may work with a male student in the presence
and sight of other staff. Staff who work directly with our students are
young (21-28 or so), so they can work empathetically with their students.
These direct care staff are highly trained in techniques which create
trust and communication, and in the numerous methods of inspiring their
students to openly work on the issues related to their behavioral problems.
Our night staff are trained, tested and competent in maintaining continuous
security within and around the facility during night hours, and take individual
student head counts every 20 minutes.
The owner of The Academy is
someone who has had many of the experiences other parents have had in
dealing with the challenges of raising great teens in today's American
culture. She understands what parents are going through and have spent
many years training and working with troubled youth and their families.
Who We Are
We are a privately-funded boarding school, and the structure and operation
of our school are based upon the principles that create lasting success
for struggling teens; academic performance, personal greatness, committed
action, self-respect, accountability, integrity, trust, and a sense of
humor.
Students develop these skills through a combination of a powerful
education, a fun and refreshing cultural experience, and a high-impact
emotional growth program.
Who We Are Not
We are not a religious organization, we do not promote the ideals of any
religious point of view, and we do not seek the endorsement of any religious
organization or affiliation.
In contrast, we support our parents' wishes
to have their home religious structure, if any, available to students,
and we provide time each weekend for on-campus private worship and/or
study.
